Is this the world’s weirdest airport? 🇹🇭
After partying it up on Koh Tao and at the Full Moon Party on a beach in Koh Phangan, we had a full day in Koh Samui which we used to visit Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha Temple), Fisherman’s Village and take in an evening of muay Thai boxing at Samui International Muay Thai Stadium.
It would then be time to head to our next destination, but there was one final attraction the island had to offer and that was it’s airport.
Samui International Airport is unlike any other passenger terminal as it is open-air, meaning that even when you’re in the airport, you’re still outside.
From fantastic plane spotting opportunities to one of the most chilled out airport experiences I’ve ever had, welcome to Samui International - is this the world’s weirdest airport?

THIS is why you need to do the REAL Full Moon Party 🇹🇭
Переглядів 2,9 тис.Місяць тому
One of the biggest reasons I was looking forward to travelling Thailand was the nightlife, in particular the iconic Full Moon Party. The Full Moon Party was first held on Haad Rin Beach on the island of Koh Phangan back in 1983. 20-30 people - tourists and residents of Paradise Bungalows - congregated to party under the full moon, and over the years it developed into an event which takes place ...
Davey Crocker’s Food Reviews | Bangkok street food 🇹🇭

Bangkok is quite possibly the greatest city in the world for street food. From Michelin-star vendors to cheap eats, you’ll never go hungry in Thailand’s capital city. We decided to dedicate an evening to the street food scene in Bangkok, heading down to Chinatown as that is one of the best districts for it. We sampled a few different things, and my mate Dave wanted to give his thoughts on camer...

Last year, Bangkok became the world’s most-visited city and it’s obvious why. With its incredible array of attractions, world-class nightlife, amazing food and incredible value for money, the Thai capital one of the best destinations to travel to. But with mass tourism comes people looking to capitalise on the situation, and in this video you’ll see exactly that. Whilst we enjoyed a morning and...
Spending my first New Year outside the UK | Welcome to Thailand! 🇹🇭
Переглядів 1782 місяці тому
At the end of 2022, me and my mates left cold and wet Manchester and headed east to Thailand, beginning an almost four-week adventure throughout the country, visiting some of its best destinations. But up first was its capital, Bangkok, and we’d be there for the big occasion, as I was spending my first New Year’s outside the UK. New Year’s Eve in Thailand is a big deal, and we were about to fin...
How to spend a 6-hour layover in Geneva 🇨🇭

It was time to leave western Africa, and I was taking the uncontentional route home of Dakhla in Western Sahara to Liverpool via Casablanca and Geneva (am I the first-ever person to fly this routing?). But in Switzerland, I’d have six hours between landing and departing again, and as it was a self-transfer I decided that my best course of action would be to do some exploration, rather than sit ...
How to ride the famous iron ore train in Mauritania 🇲🇷

The finale of a magical week in Mauritania was about to come to a head, as we were about to board Mauritania’s famous iron ore train. One of the world’s most famous and dangerous train journeys, the Mauritania iron ore train can be up to three kilometres long, with more than 200 carriages each carrying up to 84 tonnes of powdered iron (iron ore) from the mines in Choum to the coast in Nouadhibo...
Riding camels is a nightmare (My worst travel experience?) 🇲🇷
Переглядів 1913 місяці тому
Mauritania is a country that continued to surprise me and that was no different when we visited the Eye of the Sahara, riding there in the back of a pick-up truck. We then headed on to Ouadane where we had a tour of, and watched the sunset from, its ancient city before heading off to another Sahara desert camp on the back of a camel. If I am being honest, riding camels is a nightmare, but would...

After a short layover in Istanbul, I landed in Mauritania - one of the world’s least-visited countries with around 30,000 annual international arrivals. It was the start of a 10-day tour culminating in a trip aboard Mauritania’s famous Iron Ore Train (which you may have seen over on Bald and Bankrupt’s channel), but before then, there was plenty of this country to explore. We started out in the...

On my last night in Nairobi I visited the famous Carnivore - Kenya’s most popular restaurant. Carnivore is a rodizio-style meat restaurant where they serve favourites like turkey, chicken, beef and lamb in addition to exotic meats, all of which I was sampling for the first time. So, watch this video to see my reaction to eating ox testicles, crocodile and ostrich for the first time at Kenya’s m...

It was my final full day in Nairobi, though I didn’t actually know this as my flight the following day had been cancelled due to the Kenya Airways pilots’ strike, and I didn’t know when I would be getting home. But that didn’t stop me exploring the Kenyan capital with all of the time I had left. I started at City Market, which I thought was somewhere where locals went to purchase fresh produce,...

After almost missing it because of problems getting a flight out of Uganda, I was up before the sunrise in Kenya to head off on safari. My driver picked me up early in the morning and I was surprised to find out that I was the only one who had booked this particular tour, which meant I had an eight-person safari vehicle to myself. The first stop of the day was Nairobi National Park, where I was...

I finally arrived in Uganda after an overnight flight from Dar es Salaam, connecting through Nairobi, Kenya. I was eager to get out and explore, so after a quick dip and checking in to my hotel, I took a taxi to the Kasubi Tombs - the famous attraction where Uganda’s Kabakas (kings) are buried - before taking a long walk through the rest of the city. Along the way I bumped into Joseph, who acco...

It had been an interesting time in Tanzania. I started with no clothes, I was frustrated at not being able to get a taxi, I’d eaten some of the best Indian food and chicken I’d ever had in my life and now it was time to finally enjoy what Dar es Salaam had to offer. In the morning I headed to Kariakoo Market - Dar es Salaam’s biggest and busiest market - where I almost got pickpocketed, then it...

If you walk the streets of Tanzania’s biggest city - Dar es Salaam - at night, you will come across street barbecues. Pyramids would be nice to see and things from that era but I still could never wrap my mind around why anyone would go to that arm pit of a place. If these guys didn’t exist to that degree I’d understand more but seriously I don’t think the pyramids are that beautiful to deal with the strict rules the culture and these annoying hasslers all at once. I’m sure there’s some amazing people there but again that doesn’t automatically make me understand why anyone would wanna go there’s amazing people in much nicer places where you also won’t be harassed to this degree.

Yeah I went in 2018 and we were warned not to ride the camels because they will swarm you and not let you off until you pay triple what they initially asked for. I had this group of kids who would not leave me alone for like 20 minutes until finally they left. They are relentless. Had something similar in Jerusalem, merchants would walk up to me and out jewelry on me and it took me a second to realize they were demanding money from me and wouldn’t take it back, I had to be aggressive. It really ruins what is otherwise a nice time.

I have often stayed in Samui at Chewang beach - I use to stay at My Place but it shutdown over COVId and never reopened. Ark Bar can be good fun. Probably one of the best places to be during Songkran.I've never attended the Full Moon Party but I get the attraction. Safe travels.
